Biosecurity
Biosecurity Disclaimer
We take biosecurity seriously and adhere to strict protocols to protect our poultry. Our flock is routinely tested at recommended intervals, and we actively participate in the National Poultry Improvement Plan, as well as the Texas Pullorum-Typhoid Program.
To prevent cross contamination, we implement stringent biosecurity measures against outside sources, including people, shoes, and clothing. We follow an NPIP approved biosecurity plan to minimize the risk of poultry borne illnesses on our premises.
We frequently receive requests to tour our pens, but due to NPIP regulations, no outside visitors are permitted in the poultry yard. Several viral and bacterial infections can devastate flocks, and once introduced, some diseases are nearly impossible to eradicate from coops and soil.
How Disease Spreads:
Poultry diseases can spread easily when individuals move between flocks without proper precautions. If someone has been in contact with an infected environment and wears the same shoes covered in disease carrying dust or dander, they can unknowingly introduce pathogens to another flock. Some diseases persist in the environment for months or even years, forcing affected breeders to cull entire flocks and restart, only to risk reinfection from lingering pathogens. Certain diseases can even be transmitted through hatching eggs, spreading infections across state lines.
Thankfully, we have remained disease free, and we intend to keep it that way. To ensure the safety of our flock, we strictly prohibit access to our poultry and yard.
Pickups at our location are in a designated area.
Thank you for understanding and respecting our commitment to poultry health and biosecurity.
