Our Line FAQ

Here we want to discuss the intricate parts of our farm and lineage.

What is Dark Pine Poultry’s vision?

Dark Pine Poultry is dedicated to preserving and improving heritage Silver Laced Wyandottes and other historic breeds striving to breed birds that align with the American Poultry Association’s Standard of Perfection. Our vision is rooted in maintaining the historical integrity of heritage poultry, recognizing that these breeds played a vital role in early American survival and development. Unlike hatchery stock, which has been bred primarily for production, we focus on preserving the unique genetics, structure, and beauty of true standardbred breeds such as Wyandottes.

What are Dark Pine Poultry Goals for the Silver Laced variety?

We’ve been dedicated to our Silver Laced Wyandotte line for many years, working toward high quality, standardbred birds with strong type, defined lacing, and well balanced bodies. We carefully select only the best birds to maintain and improve our core flock and lineage.

Our focus:

We prefer our Wyandottes to be round and wide. They also may have shorter backs and higher angled tails than other lines, giving you flexibility to use them how you see fit with whatever your own goals are. These birds offer a strong starting point to build your own foundation and line, or to refine toward your own breeding goals/inject desired traits etc. into your own line.
